Artem Yasynskyy, 2014 Bachauer Bronze Medalist, took home the Gold at the 2015 Cincinnati World Piano Competition which concluded yesterday.
After four elimination rounds, Yasnyskyy performed Tchaikovsky Concerto No. 1 with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra under maestro Robert Trevino. Mary Ellen Hutton of Cincinnati Enquirer said, “Yasynskyy produced a big sound in the Tchaikovsky Concerto, where he also showed an uncanny ability to match the colors of the orchestra. His rapid octaves in the first movement were thrilling, and he gave a big thrust to the ending. The finale had a wonderfully playful cast, Yasynskyy finding heart in its lyrical second theme and whizzing over the keys when the moment called for it.”
As the 2015 Gold Medalist, Yasynskyy was awarded $20,000 US and a recital in New York City. Mr. Yasnyskyy received his training at University of Arts Bremen and Donetsk State Prokofiev Musical Academy. Since April, he has been lecturer of piano at the University of Arts Bremen where he is the youngest on the faculty.
