KaLing Colleen Lee, Hong Kong

KaLing Colleen Lee began her piano studies in Hong Kong at age four. She attended the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts where she was the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships. Following her graduation in 2003, she continued her studies at The Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover Germany. A winner of many competitions, both at the local, national and international levels, Miss Lee was named the First Prize Winner in the 1993 Gina Bachauer International Junior Piano Competition and received the Second Prize in the 1999 Gina Bachauer International Young Artists Piano Competition. Other distinctions include First Prize at the 3rd Seiler International Piano Competition in Kitzingen, Germany and Seventh Prize at the Hamamatsu International Piano Academy Competition. Recently, she was named as the only female laureate with 6th Prize at the most recent (2005) Chopin International Piano Competition held in Warsaw, Poland. Her recital and orchestral appearances are numerous and include several continents including Asia. She has performed in Bangkok, Jakarta, France, Italy, Poland, England and the United States. Recent performances include the Pablo Casals Festival, the Assisi International Piano Festival and the Meissen Pianoforte Festival. Her Carnegie Hall Weill Recital Hall debut in 2003 was a result of winning the First Prize and receiving the Dorothy MacKenzie Award from the Mannes School of Music Summer Festival Competition. Future concerts involve performances in Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Czech Republic and the Netherlands under the “New Masters on Tours Series” presented by The International Holland Music Sessions.
