Kuok-Wai Lio, Hong Kong

Kuok-Wai Lio was born in Macau in 1989 and began piano studies at age five. He has been a student of Gabriel Kwok since 2000, studying at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts.

He has participated in numerous competitions, having won Third Prize in the Fifth Tchaikovsky International Competition for Young Musicians held in Japan, and the Gold Prize and the Yoda Prize (special Prize) in the January 2005 Sixth International Chopin Competition in Asia. He also won prizes in the 65th Steinway International Piano Competition and the Third Seiler International Piano Competition in Germany.
