Thank you for your interest in applying for the Gina Bachauer International Junior Piano Competition. Please carefully review the Rules and Regulations as outlined below. Then complete the following steps:
- Application, completed and submitted online.
- You will then be asked to submit your color PHOTOGRAPH. You may also do this at a later time through an email attachment sent to info@bachauer.com.
- Submit your LEGAL DOCUMENTS either through an email attachment sent to info@bachauer.com or by mail to the Gina Bachauer Competition office.
- Authorize payment of the $100 U.S. APPLICATION FEE. This may be done by CREDIT CARD through the PAYPAL option on website or by contacting the Gina Bachauer Competition office for instructions on completing a WIRE TRANSFER.
- All of these steps must be completed by DECEMBER 1, 2007.
- You will receive a CONFIRMATION EMAIL once you have completed ALL of these steps.
IF INVITED TO AUDITION, you will receive a second email notifying you of the place and time of your audition
RULES AND REGULATIONS
ELIGIBILITY
The Gina Bachauer International Junior Piano Competition is open to pianists of all nationalities,
ages 11-13 (as of July 1, 2008). Applicants shall follow official application and audition procedures as
outlined below.
COMPETITION REPERTORY AND PROCEDURE
ROUND ONE: A 20–minute, self-chosen program of solo music, which should include compositions from different composers.
ROUND TWO: A 30–minute, self-chosen program of solo music, not repeating repertory from ROUND ONE.
FINAL ROUND: One movement of any concerto selected by the competitor.
(ALL COMPETITORS accepted to the competition will perform in ROUNDS ONE and TWO. There will be NO ELIMINATION between the two rounds. At the conclusion of the ROUND TWO, the jury will select SIX FINALISTS to perform in the FINAL ROUND).
APPLICATION
Official Application must be received in the offices of THE GINA BACHAUER INTERNATIONAL PIANO FOUNDATION, either electronically or by mail, by DECEMBER 1, 2007. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Application, completed and submitted online.
- One (1) COLOR photograph: 300 dpi resolution (must be sent electronically).
- A non-refundable Application Fee of $100.00 U.S. paid through wire transfer (contact the Gina Bachauer office for details) or credit card (through Paypal option).
- Copy of legal documents that verify date and place of birth, and that provide legal ID # (Social Security Number, Passport Number, etc.) (Images may be sent electronically or copies mailed).
AUDITIONS (please indicate choice of audition city on Application)
Applicants WHO ARE INVITED TO AUDTION for the 2008 GINA BACHAUER INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR PIANO COMPETITION will be notified no later than December 20, 2007. All candidates will be required to audition in person in one of the following cities (see below). ALL CANDIDATES MUST SELECT A CITY. (The candidates will be notified by email a confirmation of the date of their audition, the time, and the name and address of the AUDITION SITE in the selected city of their choice).

AUDITION REPERTORY
All candidates applying to the GINA BACHAUER INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR COMPETITION must prepare the following repertory for the audition.
REPERTORY: All candidates must perform two compositions by different composers.
ACCEPTANCE
Applicants who are invited to compete in the 2008 GINA BACHAUER INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR PIANO COMPETITION will be notified no later than March 1, 2008 and shall accept the invitation by submitting the following items to be received at the office of the Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation no later than April 1, 2008:
- Signed letter of acceptance.
- Complete list of competition repertory.
- Information for the official program.
- A typewritten survey of your education, music training, and interests.
- Information about your teachers, competitions entered, prizes and awards, and recital/concerto appearances. (It is in your interest to present a well-presented biographical sketch, repertory and photographs to be used for local, regional and national publicity).
- A non-refundable confirmation fee of $100.00 U.S. (wire transfer or credit card payment) must accompany all ACCEPTANCE INFORMATION AND DETAILS.

HOUSING AND TRANSPORTATION
Housing will be provided with host families for contestants who do not reside in Salt Lake City. Competitors are responsible for their own transportation to and from Salt Lake City. Competition-related transportation in Salt Lake City will be furnished by host families.
