Qi Kong is a 20-year-old native of Liaoning Province in Northern China. Mr. Kong started piano lessons at the age of four, and Mr. Kong moved to Shenzhen at the age of ten and began to study at the Shenzhen Arts School with Eleanor Wong and Keng Zhou. In 2004, he won the 2nd Prize in the China National Xing-Hai Piano Competition. In 2008, he received a full scholarship from the Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Massachusetts. He furthered his piano studies with Russell Sherman and Wha Kyung Byun at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School. The following year, Mr. Kong won the 1st Prize in the 4th Schimmel USASU International Piano Competition. He has appeared on NPR’s From the Top hosted by Christopher O’ Riley and has also participated in the Aspen Music Festival, PianoTexas, Shanghai International Piano Festival, Juilliard ChamberFest and many others. In 2012, Mr. Kong was accepted at The Juilliard School, where he is currently studying with Dr. Yoheved Kaplinsky. Recently, Mr. Kong won the concerto competition at the Aspen Music Festival.
