Jun Sun, 25, a master student at the Julliard School, is considered a rising young pianists among his generation.

Jun’s talents were recognized early on when he was accepted into the middle school of the prestigious Shanghai Conservatory of Music studying under Prof. Chao Zhijue at the age of 9. In 2007, he was ranked No. 1 in the entrance examination for the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. In 2008, he was accepted by The Juilliard School of Music on a full scholarship.

As a prizewinner of many international and national piano competitions, Mr. Sun won 1st Place at the Asian Youth Music Piano Competition Shanghai Division in 2003 and 2005, 1st Prize of National Sander Piano Competition in 2005. In 2006, He won 1st Place of the Shanghai Conservatory Mozart Concerto Competition, which gave him the opportunity to perform Mozart Piano Concerto K.503 with world-renowned pianist Fou T’song in the Chinese National Day of 2007 at Shanghai He Lvding Concert Hall. In 2010, Mr. Sun won the 6th Prize in the China International Piano Competition and toured in Beijing, Qingdao, Wuhan, and Ningbo following the competition. In 2012, Jun won the 1st Prize of Crescendo Music Award and two Special Prizes in the Kapell International Piano Competition. In 2013, Jun received 2nd Prize in the Young Concert Artists International Competition.

In February 2013, Jun performed Brahms Piano Concerto No.1  under the direction of conductor Leon Fleisher with the Juilliard Orchestra in Lincoln Center.

Currently, Mr. Sun is studying under the tutelage of Professor Robert McDonald.
