Thank you for your interest in applying for the Gina Bachauer International Young Artists Piano Competition. Please carefully review the Rules and Regulations as outlined below. Then complete the following steps:

RULES AND REGULATIONS
The Gina Bachauer International Young Artists Piano Competition is open to pianists of all nationalities, ages 14-18 (as of July 1, 2008). Applicants shall follow official application and audition procedures as outlined below.
ROUND ONE: A 25–minute, self-chosen program of solo music, which should include compositions from different composers.
ROUND TWO: A 35–minute, self-chosen program of solo music, not repeating repertory from ROUND ONE.
FINAL ROUND: One movement of any concerto selected by the competitor.
(ALL COMPETITORS accepted to the competition will perform in ROUNDS ONE and TWO. There will be NO ELIMINATION between the two rounds. At the conclusion of the ROUND TWO, the jury will select SIX FINALISTS to perform in the FINAL ROUND).
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants WHO ARE INVITED TO AUDTION for the 2008 GINA BACHAUER INTERNATIONAL YOUNG ARTISTS PIANO COMPETITION will be notified no later than December 20, 2007. All candidates will be required to audition in person in one of the following cities (see below). ALL CANDIDATES MUST SELECT A CITY. (The candidates will be notified by email a confirmation of the date of their audition, the time, and the name and address of the AUDITION SITE in the selected city of their choice).

AUDITION REPERTORY
All candidates applying to the GINA BACHAUER INTERNATIONAL YOUNG ARTISTS COMPETITION must prepare the following repertory for the audition.
REPERTORY: All candidates must perform two compositions by different composers.
Applicants who are invited to compete in the 2008 GINA BACHAUER INTERNATIONAL YOUNG ARTISTS PIANO COMPETITION will be notified no later than March 1, 2008 and shall accept the invitation by submitting the following items to be received at the office of the Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation no later than April 1, 2008:

HOUSING AND TRANSPORTATION
Housing will be provided with host families for contestants who do not reside in Salt Lake City. Competitors are responsible for their own transportation to and from Salt Lake City. Competition related transportation in Salt Lake City will be furnished by host families.
PERSONAL ESSAY Answer the following questions in the form of an essay: What motivates you to enter an international piano competition? Why do you enjoy practicing, studying and performing piano? What motivates you to want to perform concerts? Please state your personal goals as they relate to piano, music and performance.

By entering your name, you declare that the information given in this application is complete and truthful. If accepted as a competitor, you shall abide by all the rules and regulations of the Competition as set out in the official rules that are included with this application form. References in these rules to the Competition Executive Committee shall be deemed to include its authorized representative, Paul C. Pollei, Founder/Artistic Director or any other representative designated by the committee. Competition matters not covered by these rules or the written judging procedures shall be determined by the Competition Executive Committee.
