2008 Young Artists Competitors
"I started taking piano lessons right before my fifth birthday. Unlike most youngsters, I was anxious to begin. My sister had been playing for years, and I had always listened, hoping to learn to imitate. I remember sitting at the piano, pushing keys until I found the right pitches to a melody that I had just heard. After taking lessons, I progressed quickly. Nobody pushed me to learn or to practice many hours. I played for the mere love of music and was disciplined from almost the very beginning.
Now, when I sit down at the piano, I think only about the music. It hardly matters where I am. Locations, venues, competitions change, but music, my approach to music, never changes. To me, music will forever be an array of colors for me to paint. Through music, I will be able to meet other fellow musicians; again, the location matters little, for international competitions bring all of us, from diverse countries, together.”
