BACHAUER 2017/2018 INTERNATIONAL CONCERT SERIES
On Friday, Sept 15th the Bachauer welcomes pianist Anton Nel in the first concert of the 2017/2018 concert season at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center (138 W Broadway), at 7:30 PM.
South African born Nel is the winner of the 1987 Naumburg International Piano Competition at Carnegie Hall. He performs internationally and across the United States as a recitalist, concerto soloist, chamber musician and teacher. He has performed with the Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco, Seattle and Utah Symphonies. Overseas he has appeared at the Wigmore Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo and has toured extensively throughout four continents.
In his Salt Lake City recital debut, Nel will be performing a program featuring Debussy’s Suite Bergamasque, which includes the ethereal Clair de lune, Schumann’s Faschingsschwank aus Wien, op. 26, with a jab at 19th-century German politics, and Beethoven’s “Waldstein” Sonata, op. 53, with its bold rhythms and heroic melodies.
