Hin-Yat Tsang

Born in Hong Kong, Hin-Yat Tsang began to play the piano at the age of four. He was admitted to the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts as a Junior Student and obtained his Bachelor of Music Degree from the Academy, graduating with first class honors. He is currently pursuing his Masters studies at the Royal College of Music in London.

Hin-Yat has won multiple international prizes including: the Fourth Prize at the 2008 Gina Bachauer International Young Artists Competition, First and Audience Prize at the 3rd Manchester International Concerto Competition as well as the First Prize at the 73rd Steinway & Sons International Youth Competition. He was also granted the Special Prize in addition to the First Prize, representing China at the biannual International Steinway Festival in Hamburg.

In December of 2010, Hin-Yat won ‘The Hong Kong Young Musician of the Year’, making his debút with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Perry So. In the same month, he was also the recipient of the inaugural Zhou Guangren Young Pianist Award. During 2012, Hin-Yat collaborated with Maestro Trevor Pinnock in an all-Mozart programme with the Academy Symphony Orchestra, and was the joint Second Prize winner in the Senior Category of the 3rd James Mottram International Piano Competition in Manchester. In January 2014,  Hin-Yat received the Gold Medal in the 15thChopin Competition in Asia.

Hin-Yat has collaborated with the Prima Vista Quartet, Hong Kong City Chamber Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, the Manchester Camerata, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra. He has performed extensively in Germany and the United Kingdom and has givenconcerts at DrapersHall, St. James Piccadilly, St. Martins-in-the-Fields, andthe Elgar Room of the Royal Albert Hallas well as various cities in China including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin, and Xiamen.
