Young Artists Silver Medalist Bolai Cao closes the Bachauer’s 2026-27 season with a program of color, imagination, and elegance. Highlights include Ravel’s shimmering Miroirs and selected works by Samuel Barber, revealing the expressive richness and poetic beauty of the piano.
Bolai Cao first gained international recognition as a prizewinner at the Gina Bachauer International Young Artists Piano Competition and has since established himself as one of the leading pianists of his generation. His numerous honors include prizes at the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition, the Ettlingen International Piano Competition, the International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz, and the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians. He has also won top prizes at the Xinghai Cup National Piano Competition and the Cantu International Piano Concerto Competition.
An active soloist, Bolai has performed internationally at festivals and concert series throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied with Eleanor Sokoloff, Meng-Chieh Liu, Gary Graffman, and Ignat Solzhenitsyn, he is currently pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Eastman School of Music, studying with Douglas Humpherys.
